Nick Harmer

Nick is a Licensed Master Social Worker with 5 years of experience working with children, adults, and families within the outpatient behavioral health setting. Holding the belief that individuals have the power to transform their lives through goal setting and a personal commitment to change, Nick welcomes all walks of life and marginalized communities with open arms. His treatment approaches are eclectic, including trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based, and cognitive behavioral approaches, and attachment theory.

Nick is passionate about working with Trauma, PTSD, Relationships, Codependency, Marital Issues, Domestic Violence/Abuse, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Life Transitions, Family Dysfunction, and ADHD. In an effort to help individuals achieve the goals they seek to make reality, Nick works collaboratively to meet clients where they are and tailor treatment to each client’s needs. This allows for development of the therapeutic alliance and creates a safe space for individuals to enhance skills and tools that support the healing journey. He is here to help those he serves navigate through these past and current struggles in a safe, nonjudgmental, and affirming space.  

Nick began academia within the field of Horticulture and Environmental Conservation, graduating from University of Maryland, College Park in 2014. He has worked within the field of Horticulture and Environmental Conservation throughout the last 10 years. In addition, Nick continued his education to pursue the mental health field, earning his Bachelor of Science in Psychology through Towson University in 2019 and a Masters of Social Work through Salisbury University in 2022. Within outpatient behavioral health settings, Nick worked for 4 years in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Programming (PRP) with children and adults. Nick also has experience working for a crisis hotline and mentoring at-risk students within the school system. Nick has most recently worked within the therapeutic setting for 2 years as a full-time therapist and program coordinator, overseeing a mental health program, substance abuse program, and managing an office team.
