Alison Russell

Alison has been in the helping profession for over 30 years, with experience in supporting individuals and families across the lifespan. She has worked in child welfare and therapeutic settings and is specialized in issues related to trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, and depression. In her therapeutic practice, she holds hope for healing and provides support as clients engage in self-reflection and work toward positive change.

Alison is trained in trauma-sensitive practices and utilizes a client-centered, strengths-based approach. She incorporates constructs from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Alison earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Maryland and her Master’s degree in Social work from Delaware State University. Alison is a Licensed Certified Social Worker, Clinical with the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners. Alison completed the Level 1 Certificate Program in Advanced Trauma Treatment with The Ferentz Institute in 2023. 

Alison is talented, experienced, validating, and encouraging, and she has a specialized skill set for virtual therapeutic work. She is available for telehealth services and looks forward to processing life together, one session at a time.
