Elise Bailey

Clinical Social Work Intern

Elise is currently a Master of Social Work Student at the University of Delaware, specializing in clinical practice. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from West Virginia University this past May, where she gained foundational experience in social services and advocacy. Presently, Elise is completing her practicum placement at The Changing Tides as part of her coursework, allowing her to apply her academic knowledge in a real-world clinical setting.

In addition to her internship, Elise's professional background includes working within a clinical medical setting, where she received extensive training in patient communication, managing insurance requirements, and understanding healthcare systems. This experience has enhanced her ability to engage effectively with clients across diverse backgrounds and needs.

Elise has experience working with young adults navigating transitional life periods, and she strongly advocates for a client-centered approach to therapy. She aims to empower clients to make their own informed decisions while providing a supportive, non-judgmental space. Her therapeutic focus integrates wellness principles, emphasizing the mind-body connection and physical well-being as essential components of mental health. Currently, Elise is undergoing extensive training in trauma-informed care to better support clients with trauma histories, ensuring her interventions are sensitive, effective, and respectful of their unique experiences.

Elise's prior experience includes an internship during her undergraduate studies, where she worked with adults with disabilities. Her responsibilities involved providing counseling on career readiness, developing life skills, fostering independent living, and supporting community integration. Additionally, she volunteered at WVU's Title IX program, focusing on raising awareness and educating college students about sexual assault prevention and consent issues.
